Tuna Avocado Melt

Posted by Manjeri Skincare Team on

Benefits:
Tuna provides zinc and selenium to support skin repair and reduce inflammation, while avocado delivers healthy fats that strengthen the skin barrier and stabilize blood sugar. Pesto adds antioxidant-rich herbs and olive oil to support circulation and glow, provolone offers protein and calcium for skin resilience, and tomatoes supply lycopene to protect against oxidative stress. Red onion supports digestion and detox pathways, helping restore clarity after holiday indulgence.

Skin Concern: Post-holiday congestion, inflammation, uneven texture

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 8 minutes | Serves: 2

Ingredients:

For the Tuna Filling:
1 can high-quality tuna in olive oil, drained
1 tbsp pesto
Sea salt and black pepper to taste

For Assembly:
4 slices sourdough or whole-grain bread
4 slices provolone cheese
1 ripe avocado, sliced
1 small tomato, thinly sliced
1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced
Olive oil or butter for grilling

Instructions:
Prepare the tuna by placing it in a bowl and gently flaking with a fork. Stir in the pesto and season lightly with salt and pepper.

Assemble the sandwiches by layering provolone cheese on two slices of bread, followed by the pesto tuna mixture, tomato slices, red onion, and avocado. Top with remaining bread slices.

Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly brush the outside of each sandwich with olive oil or butter. Grill for 3–4 minutes per side until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted. Remove from heat, let rest briefly, then slice and serve warm.

Shopping Tips:

  • Tuna: Choose wild-caught tuna packed in olive oil for richer flavor and skin-supportive fats.

  • Pesto: Look for pesto made with real basil, olive oil, and nuts, avoiding added sugars or fillers.

  • Cheese: Provolone melts well and offers a mild flavor that doesn’t overpower the dish.

Cooking Tips:

  • Slice the red onion very thin to keep the flavor balanced and easy to digest.

  • Add a light drizzle of olive oil inside the sandwich if your pesto is thick.

  • For a lighter reset option, serve open-faced or pair with a fresh cucumber salad.

This tunacado melt delivers comfort and clarity in one bite, making it a satisfying post-holiday meal that supports balanced skin and a renewed glow from within.
