Creole Beignets

Posted by Manjeri Skincare Team on

Benefits: These soft, pillowy Creole beignets offer a comforting treat while delivering skin-supporting nutrients when made with thoughtful ingredients. Using plant-based milk and light oils helps maintain hydration, while a touch of natural sweetener keeps blood sugar balanced to reduce skin stress. When paired with antioxidant-rich toppings like berries, this dessert supports a brighter, more refreshed complexion.

Skin Concern: Stress-related breakouts and dullness

Prep Time: 20 minutes | Cook Time: 10 minutes | Serves: 4

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm almond milk (or regular milk)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or coconut oil
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For Frying:

  • Neutral oil for frying

For Serving:

  • Powdered sugar (or coconut sugar powder)
  • Fresh berries (optional)

Instructions:

  • Activate the Yeast: In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and maple syrup. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
  • Make the Dough: Add egg and melted butter, then gradually mix in flour and salt until a soft dough forms. Knead lightly until smooth.
  • Let it Rise: Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Shape: Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into squares.
  • Fry: Heat oil to 350°F and fry beignets in batches until golden brown, about 1 to 2 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve: Dust with powdered sugar and top with fresh berries if desired. Serve warm.

Shopping Tips:

  • Flour: Use unbleached flour for a cleaner ingredient option.
  • Oil: Choose a neutral oil with a high smoke point like avocado or canola oil.

Cooking Tips:

  • Oil Temperature: Keep oil consistent at 350°F to avoid greasy beignets.
  • Lighter Texture: Do not over-knead the dough to keep beignets airy.
  • Glow Upgrade: Serve with a side of fruit compote for added antioxidants.

This iconic Creole treat gets a glow-friendly upgrade, perfect for indulging while still supporting your skin from within.
