Creole Red Beans & Rice

Posted by Manjeri Skincare Team on

Benefits: This hearty Creole red beans and rice dish is rich in plant-based protein, iron, and fiber that support skin renewal and overall radiance. Red beans help promote healthy circulation, which enhances your natural glow, while garlic and onions provide detoxifying compounds that support clearer skin. Brown rice adds steady energy and helps maintain balanced hydration levels for a smooth, even complexion.

Skin Concern: Dull and tired-looking skin

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook Time: 1 hour | Serves: 4

Ingredients:

For the Beans:

  • 1 cup dried red beans (or 2 cans, drained and rinsed)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For Serving:

  • 2 cups cooked brown rice
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions:

  • Build Flavor: Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add onion, bell pepper, and celery, cooking until softened. Stir in garlic and spices.
  • Simmer the Beans: Add beans and broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 45 to 60 minutes until beans are tender and creamy.
  • Season and Serve: Season with salt and pepper. Serve over brown rice and garnish with green onions.

Shopping Tips:

  • Beans: Dried beans offer better texture, but canned beans save time.
  • Broth: Choose low-sodium options for better control of flavor.

Cooking Tips:

  • Creamier Texture: Mash a small portion of the beans to thicken naturally.
  • Flavor Boost: Add a bay leaf while simmering for deeper flavor.

This comforting classic supports circulation and energy, helping your skin look more vibrant and refreshed from within.
