Taka Pesa Project Update: Verified Plastic Cleanup Has Officially Begun

Posted by Manjeri Skincare Team on

We’re excited to share a major update from the Taka Pesa Project, our growing initiative to remove plastic waste in partnership with CleanHub while creating jobs and restoring local ecosystems. One of our team members recently visited the site and captured real-time photos from the ground. The verdict is in. The project is officially in motion.

This is not just another cleanup. It is a community-led, globally supported initiative to reduce plastic waste and track every pound through our verified partnership with CleanHub.

If you care about sustainable change, this is a moment worth watching.

What is the Taka Pesa Project?

The Taka Pesa Project is a plastic waste cleanup campaign rooted in local action and supported by global accountability. In Swahili, "Taka" means trash and "Pesa" means money. The name reflects our belief that waste has value when handled responsibly.

The mission is to clean up plastic waste in high-impact areas, empower communities with paid work, and track every step of the process through CleanHub’s verified technology.

It is a mix of environmental restoration and economic empowerment, all with transparent, measurable results.

Powered by CleanHub

Through our CleanHub partnership, every pound of plastic collected is verified and logged in a transparent, trackable system. This is essential for accountability.

Too many cleanup projects lack follow-through. CleanHub solves this by providing real-time data and verified results.

Here’s what the system allows us to do:

  • Track every bag of plastic collected

  • Verify responsible recycling or disposal

  • Ensure plastic does not end up in landfills or waterways

  • Publish a clear record of impact for the public

This transparency is rare and one of the reasons Taka Pesa is built for long-term change.

What We Saw on the Ground

During the recent site visit, our team observed early cleanup work in progress. Teams were active, sorting and collecting plastic waste to prepare it for responsible removal.

The photos show areas beginning to transform. What were once littered zones are now being cleared by local residents and volunteers. Many are earning income through the project, made possible by support from CleanHub and our broader community.

The most common types of plastic being removed include:

  • Single-use bags and bottles

  • Plastic packaging

  • Household containers

  • Microplastics from the soil

This is more than surface-level cleanup. Removing this waste improves soil health, reduces runoff, and protects water sources.

Creating Jobs Through Cleanup

The Taka Pesa Project is about more than waste removal. It is also about creating economic opportunity.

With support from CleanHub and our network of partners, we have created jobs for local residents. These include collectors, sorters, project leads, and data coordinators who manage the tracking system. In communities with limited employment options, these roles are vital.

This model shows that environmental action and job creation can go hand in hand. Plastic waste becomes an opportunity to uplift entire neighborhoods.

Where the Waste Goes

A question we often hear is what happens after the waste is collected. Thanks to CleanHub, we can answer clearly.

  • Collection: Waste is gathered by trained teams

  • Sorting: Plastic is organized by type for recycling or safe disposal

  • Documentation: Every action is logged using CleanHub’s mobile platform

  • Processing: Certified partners handle the final stages of disposal or repurposing

There are no shortcuts and no greenwashing. Just verified, ethical waste management.

What’s Next?

This is only the beginning. Over the next few months, we will expand cleanup zones, share personal stories from those on the ground, and publish detailed CleanHub stats showing exactly how much plastic we’ve removed.

Upcoming milestones include:

  • Removing over 500,000 pounds of plastic in 2025

  • Launching educational workshops for the community

  • Creating training programs for local green entrepreneurs

  • Expanding access to the CleanHub dashboard for public viewing

You will be able to follow every step. From waste collected to jobs created.

Why CleanHub Matters

CleanHub is a leader in verified plastic removal. By helping brands fund traceable environmental work, they ensure every contribution delivers real results.

Their platform allows us to track weight, connect with trusted collectors, and measure the return on every dollar spent. This turns impact into something tangible, not theoretical.

This is not just a cleanup project. It is a structured system for sustainable impact.

A Cleaner Future Starts Now

We are committed to continuing this work and bringing you along on the journey. In our next update, we’ll introduce some of the people driving this change and show you what daily life looks like behind the scenes.

Progress is happening. Waste is being removed. Jobs are being created. And none of it is hidden. CleanHub helps us keep it visible.

Let’s clean up together.
