Bolognese Lasagne with Béchamel Sauce

Posted by Manjeri Skincare Team on

Benefits:
Slow-simmered beef provides protein and iron that support skin strength and vitality, while tomatoes deliver lycopene to help protect against environmental stress. Milk and butter in the béchamel sauce contribute calcium and nourishing fats that support skin softness and moisture retention, and pasta sheets provide comforting energy that helps prevent skin from looking tired or depleted during colder or stressful periods.

Skin Concern: Dryness, skin feeling run down

Prep Time: 30 minutes | Cook Time: 1 hour | Serves: 6

Ingredients:

  • 12 lasagne sheets

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Sea salt and black pepper

For the Béchamel Sauce:

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 3 cups whole milk

  • Pinch of nutmeg

  • Sea salt to taste

Instructions:

  • Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat and sauté the onion until soft.

  • Add garlic and cook briefly, then add the ground beef and cook until browned.

  • Stir in tomato paste and crushed tomatoes, season with salt and pepper, and simmer gently for 25–30 minutes until rich and thick.

  • Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat, whisk in flour, and cook for 1–2 minutes.

  • Slowly whisk in milk until smooth and cook until thickened, seasoning with salt and nutmeg.

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.

  • Spread a thin layer of bolognese in the bottom of a baking dish, then layer lasagne sheets, béchamel, and more bolognese.

  • Repeat layers, finishing with béchamel on top.

  • Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.

  • Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbling.

  • Let rest before slicing and serving.

Shopping Tips:

  • Beef: Choose grass-fed ground beef for richer flavor and quality protein.

  • Milk: Whole milk creates the creamiest béchamel sauce.

  • Lasagne Sheets: Oven-ready sheets save time and layer evenly.

Cooking Tips:

  • Let the lasagne rest before cutting to help layers set.

  • Whisk béchamel continuously to avoid lumps.

  • Make the bolognese a day ahead for deeper flavor.

This bolognese lasagne is a comforting, nourishing classic that delivers warmth, balance, and glow, making it ideal for slow weekends or family-style dinners.
